Build an enquiry form in Autopilot and put it on your website. Every enquiry becomes a contact automatically, ready for your follow-up.
Before you start #
- Decide what you need to ask. Short forms get more enquiries: name, phone, email and one or two questions about the job are usually enough.
- Create custom fields for any questions Autopilot does not have a field for.
- To add the form to your website you need access to your website editor (for example WordPress, Wix or Squarespace).
Steps #
-
Sites → Forms → Create form
Click Sites, then the Forms tab, then + Create form. Start from a blank form or a template.
-
Add your fields
Drag fields in from the left panel. Quick Add has the standard fields; your custom fields are also available. Mark the important ones as required.
-
Set notifications
Open the Notifications tab to get an email when someone submits the form. You can also send the customer an automatic “thanks, we’ve got your enquiry” email.
-
Choose what happens after submit
In Settings, choose a thank-you message or send people to a thank-you page.
-
Save and test
Click Save, then Preview, and submit a test enquiry. Check it in the Submissions tab and in Contacts.
-
Integrate
Click Integrate. Copy the embed code and paste it into your website (in WordPress, use a Custom HTML block). Or copy the form link to share it in posts and messages.
Good to know #
- Style the form inside Autopilot. Your website’s design settings cannot change it.
- If you change the layout or pop-up settings later, copy the embed code again and replace the old one on your website.
- Use the Form Submitted trigger in Automation to reply to enquiries straight away.
- Forms placed on your website also record where the visitor came from (for example Google or Facebook).
Troubleshooting #
If the same person appears only once after several tests, that is expected. Autopilot matches submissions with the same email or phone to the existing contact.
