How to turn an automation on or off

Switch an automation on when you are ready for it to run, and off when you want it to stop.

Steps #

  1. Automation → Workflows

Find the automation in the list. The status column shows Published (on) or Draft (off).

  2. Open it

Click its name to open the builder.

  3. Draft / Publish

Use the Draft / Publish switch at the top right. Publish turns it on. Draft turns it off.

  4. Save

If there is a dot on the Save button, you have unsaved changes. Click Save.

Good to know #

  • Saving and publishing are different. Changes you save are not live until the automation is published.
  • Turning an automation off stops new contacts entering it.
  • The Settings tab of an automation lets you set quiet hours with Time Window, so texts only go out at sensible times, and Allow Re-entry if the same person can go through it again.
  • See who has gone through an automation in Enrollment History, and what it did in Execution Logs.

Troubleshooting #

If you cannot save, a required field in a trigger or action is empty. Open each step and fill in anything marked as required.

If an automation is published but nothing happens, check Enrollment History to see if anyone entered it, and check its trigger matches what you expect.
