When you miss a call, Autopilot can text the caller straight away, so they reply to you instead of ringing the next business on Google.
How it works #
-
A customer calls your Autopilot number
The call rings through to you as usual.
-
Nobody answers
The call goes unanswered, the line is busy, or it goes to voicemail.
-
Autopilot sends a text
Within moments the caller gets a friendly text, for example: “Sorry we missed your call. How can we help? Reply here and we will get back to you.”
-
The reply lands in your inbox
When the customer texts back, the message appears in Conversations, so you can pick it up as soon as you are free.
How to set it up #
-
Automation → Workflows → + Create workflow
Open Automation in the left menu, click + Create workflow and start from scratch.
-
Add new trigger → Call details
Click Add new trigger and choose Call details under Events. Give it a clear name, such as “Missed call”.
-
Call Direction and Call Status
Set Call Direction to incoming. Under Call Status, select busy, voicemail and no-answer. Save the trigger.
-
Add the text
Below the trigger, add an SMS step to the caller. Write a short, friendly message with your business name.
-
Test and publish
Click Test workflow, then switch the workflow from Draft to Publish. Call your Autopilot number from another phone and let it ring out to check the text arrives.
Not sure how to build it? Email support@77labs.ai and we will help you set it up.
Good to know #
- It only works for calls to your Autopilot number. Calls to your personal mobile are not tracked.
- If you forward calls to your mobile, keep the call timeout at about 20 seconds, so Autopilot knows the call was missed before your mobile voicemail picks up.
- So that people who call more than once get a text each time, turn on Allow Re-entry in the workflow’s Settings tab.
- Each text uses credits.
Troubleshooting #
If callers are not getting a text, check the workflow is published, your account has credit and the call came in on your Autopilot number. The workflow’s Enrollment history and Execution logs tabs show whether the call triggered it.
