How to add a contact

Add a customer or lead to Autopilot by hand, for example after a phone call or a chat on site.

Steps #

  1. Contacts → Smart Lists

Click Contacts in the left menu. You see all your contacts in the Smart Lists tab.

  2. Add Contact

Click the add contact icon at the top right (or + Add Contact if your list is empty).

  3. Fill in the details

Enter the name, phone number and email address, plus anything else you know. A phone number or email lets Autopilot contact them. Add tags if you use them, for example the service they asked about.

  4. Save

Click Save. The contact appears in your list and you can open it to message them, add notes or create an opportunity.

Good to know #

  • Enter UK mobile numbers with +44, so texts reach them.
  • Use Customise Form to choose which fields show when you add a contact.
  • Contacts are also created automatically when someone fills in your forms, books online or messages you.
  • Only add people who have asked to hear from you, or who are your customers.

Troubleshooting #

If Autopilot says the contact already exists, search for them by phone or email and update the existing record instead.
